About the topic: How can Zen teachings and practice support us in taking care of our everyday life? We can trust the spaciousness of aliveness, but we also have to be practical. We need to find a way to express aliveness within the structures of our daily life: work, household, relationships, kids, traffic, money, etc. Let’s explore together how we do this.

We live at the intersection of open awareness and our thinking and emotional consciousness. The point of Zen practice is to manifest our personal life simultaneously with the aliveness of the whole world in the ten directions. We are both free and profoundly limited. Conceptually, we can get trapped in contradictions, but experientially, there doesn’t have to be a problem.

Suzuki Roshi said, “Life is impossible; we live it every day.”

Logistics: Zenki Roshi will introduce the topic on Friday (March 8th), while the main seminar will begin on Saturday morning (March 9th). The topic will be developed through informal dharma talks, question and answer, open discussion, and small groups. It is not necessary for participants to have experience with Zen practice, or familiarity with Zenki Roshi’s previous seminars.

Cushions and chairs will be available. You may bring your own sitting cushion and mat if you prefer.
